I can see spots where you do not need to glue, and could just overlap them and still get the same proffessional truly 3D look you make. Idk if you didn't notice them or if they were intentional. I often find that through less parts that don't need to be glued it's easier to not make mistakes and end up with some white sticking out of your model. If you don't want me to simplify it a bit, thats cool though. I understand
Sorry..I'm a little confusing sometimes, hopefully this helps: [link] So basically, I took the three bottom pieces of the leg and merged them together. I could probably merge the top piece, but I'd have to check if it would still bend the way intended (mind you, this is a crude example...). Idk what program you used to make the template, but I know Pepakura Designer often over complicates 3D models turned into templates and you need to fix things in the template by hand.
Well, pony legs in my case are not straight lines, they are curvy, so if you merge that pieces, model already won't merge together well. I develop papercrafts as a lowpoly models - "insert a polygon only there, where it needed", so there is no wasted polys. ^^
Wow, can't believe I never replied to this... You probably don't remember our conversation but I just wanted to let you know I understand now. The model definetely is great the way it is. Also: saw your new custom model, thanks for making it! Can't wait to utilize it!
What size paper did you print the pattern for this on? And what paper would your recommend using? I tried printing each page for the Twilight one on two separate pages so it would be bigger, but it still seems pretty small to do. Any advice? And I used cardstock too...that did not work that well...lol. Lovely pattern though! I'm going to try again once I figure out how to make it bigger!
Well, I done that because Derpy is special) I must cut all pieces from sheet, rearrange them so they all fit into multiple sheets and was EXACTLY same size as other ones... It is not very simple. Maybe you can just print it in poster format?
Only 3 days, actually (one for body and half of head, one for completely redoing the head due errors with eyes, and one for making in 3d and crafting the wings ). Just one sheet of paper contains all details.
